What is the position about?

As the first Backend Engineer, your role will consist of helping us scale our infrastructure. Key responsibilities include designing, developing, and maintaining the server-side logic and infrastructure that powers our social listening platform. The role involves collaborating intimately with our data science team to ensure seamless integration of data processing pipelines and analytical models into our production environment, bridging the gap between research and practical implementation.

What will be your impact at Hive?

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient backend systems to support our social listening and data analysis platform.

• Implement and optimize data processing/ingestion pipelines.

• Develop and manage RESTful APIs to facilitate communication between frontend applications and backend services.

• Implement robust data storage solutions and ensure efficient data retrieval for various analytical needs.

• Design and maintain database schemas that can accommodate diverse data types including text, graphs, and geographical information.

• Ensure high performance, reliability, and security of our backend systems.

• Implement and maintain our cloud-based infrastructure.

• Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes and best practices

Which qualifications and skills will drive your success in this role?

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in backend development, with proficiency in Python.

• Knowledge of different storage services, micro-services, security features, and monitoring tools.

• Solid understanding of database technologies, both SQL and NoSQL.

• Knowledge of serverless architecture design and implementation.

• Experience working with cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure) and Docker.

• Knowledge of GIT and CI/CD pipelines

• Familiarity with data science concepts - Advantage.
