The Algorithm R&D Director

We are looking for an algo group manager to lead our Algo Teams with a strong focus on optimization and machine learning. A manager who has vast hands-on experience and a deep knowledge of optimization with a specific focus on optimization techniques, heuristics,search algorithms and integer programming while also having experience leading research teams.

We are accepting candidates for positions in Israel and Europe.

Responsibilities

This position is part of the R&D management team, reporting to the VP of R&D and will work closely with the CTO & co-founder. You will lead the group efforts for Optibus products and clients, working on public transport operation products; and will manage multiple algo teams striving to improve delivery, processes and velocity. As a Senior Manager you will lead our world-class talented team and lead engineering processes while delivering a high-quality product with a focus on business impact. Your organization will consist of a group of Team Leads, Algo Developers and Software Engineers.

Requirements

• 3+ years of managing algo development teams
• Strong background in mathematical programming, linear and integer programming in particular.
• Experience in implementing high-performance linear and integer algorithms.
• Significant experience of production grade programming especially programming in Python and C++.
• At least 5 years of experience in the field of mathematical programming.
• Ph.D/M.Sc degree in Operations Research, Math, Computer Science or related.
• Knowledge of machine learning techniques.

Preferred

• Knowledge in techniques such as column generation, lagrangian relaxations, etc.
• Up to date with published research within the field of mathematical programming and related.
• Experience with commercial optimization solvers for integer programming, such as FICO, CPLEX, Gurobi.
• Practical experience with statistical performance evaluation of code, i.e., benchmarking.
• Application specific knowledge of vehicle routing, crew scheduling and rostering.Experience in the field of search algorithms and heuristics.
• Experience in developing over cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP)
