Role Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Medicinal Chemist to join our research and development team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the design, synthesis, and optimization of small molecules as potential cancer therapeutics. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to all phases of the drug discovery process in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design: Design novel small molecules with potential therapeutic applications in oncology.
• Lead Optimization: Conduct structure-activity relationship (SAR) studies to optimize lead compounds for potency, selectivity, and pharmacokinetic properties.
• Chemical Analysis: analyse compound characterization using techniques such as NMR, MS, HPLC, and other analytical methods.
• Literature Review: Stay current with scientific literature and emerging trends in medicinal chemistry and oncology.
• Collaboration: Work closely with biologists, pharmacologists, and other chemists to drive projects forward.
• Documentation: Maintain detailed records of experimental procedures, results, and conclusions. Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Education: Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a related discipline. A Master's degree with relevant experience will also be considered.
• Experience: 2+ years of experience in medicinal chemistry, preferably in an industry setting. Experience in oncology drug discovery is a plus.
• Skills:
• Proficiency in organic synthesis and modern synthetic methodologies.
• Strong understanding of SAR, drug design, and optimization principles.
• Familiarity with computational chemistry tools and techniques is desirable.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
