Production Manager - Fermentation & Downstream Process Scale-Up

I'm seeking a highly motivated and experienced Production Manager to lead the scale-up of an innovative fermentation-based process, including downstream processing. This role will involve close collaboration with a Contract Manufacturing Organization (CMO) partner abroad to ensure successful technology transfer, process optimization, and commercial production. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in process engineering, fermentation, and downstream purification, as well as experience in managing manufacturing operations in a CMO setting.

Responsibilities:

• Technology Transfer and Scale-Up: Lead the technology transfer of companies' fermentation and downstream processes to the CMO (out of Israel). Collaborate with CMO personnel to establish robust production protocols, ensuring seamless transition from pilot to commercial scale.
• Process Optimization: Lead the development and optimization of downstream processes, including purification, concentration, and formulation, to achieve high purity, yield, and stability of the final product. Continuously monitor and analyze production data to identify areas for improvement. Implement process optimization strategies to enhance yield, productivity, and product quality mainly for the down stream process.
• CMO Management: Serve as the primary liaison with the CMO, overseeing all aspects of production, including scheduling, troubleshooting, and quality control. Build and maintain strong relationships with CMO personnel to ensure efficient and effective collaboration.
• Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain rigorous quality control measures to ensure that all products meet or exceed regulatory standards and customer expectations.
• Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Identify and resolve technical challenges that may arise during production. Provide expert guidance and support to CMO personnel in troubleshooting process-related issues.
• Reporting and Documentation: Prepare detailed reports on production progress, process performance, and quality metrics. Maintain meticulous records of all production activities and data.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in process engineering, with a focus on downstream processing of fermentation-based products.
• Proven track record of successful technology transfer and process scale-up in a CMO environment.
• Experience working with international teams and navigating cultural differences.
