Embedded Software Engineer

Digital intelligence company in the forensics industry, selling their developed system to law enforcement agencies both domestically and internationally, with a focus on the USA. Their role involves receiving a mobile device seized by the police, bypassing its security measures, extracting data (even if encrypted), processing it, performing analytics, and assisting investigators in obtaining facts and forensic evidence that aid in solving crimes at a later stage, primarily large-scale crimes such as terrorist attacks, human trafficking, etc.

Unlike other companies in the field that plant spyware, the company's sole purpose is solving crimes by breaking into devices. Their stated goal: "Make the world a safe place." The work environment is fast paced with a startup atmosphere.

Locate in Tel Aviv, near a train line, and have 500 employees in the country and over 1,000 worldwide. They operate on a hybrid model, with approximately two days of work from home.

Role Description:

• Part of a Cyber Low Level systems development team, consisting of 3 strong developers combining hardware and software.
• The development is equally split between C++/C and Python.
• Working on Linux systems and dealing with drivers, internals, Yocto, and BSP.
• Develop and maintain custom Linux images for our embedded platform, optimizing performance and security.
• Design and implement the BSP layer, ensuring compatibility and efficiency across different hardware configurations.
• Identify, analyze, and mitigate potential security vulnerabilities.
• Engage in innovative problem-solving activities, contributing to the development of new technologies and methodologies.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the latest security threats, trends, and technologies.

Qualifications:

• 4 years of low-level development experience.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent military experience.
• Proficiency in developing custom Linux images and BSP for embedded systems with experience in Buildroot/Yocto/custom build systems.
• Strong programming skills in C, C++, and Python.
• Extensive knowledge of Linux internals and a solid understanding of security and cryptography (block ciphers, PKI, cryptographic hashes, MACs, code signing).
• Experience with embedded systems and low-level programming (RTOS/bare-metal), including SPI and I2C communications.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and analytical mindset.
• Effective communication skills, capable of working collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Creative thinking and the ability to tackle challenges with innovative solutions.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
