Algorithm Engineer

A startup company working on AI for the energy sector, developing statistical and mathematical models based on AI technologies to predict the behavior of the electricity market in the USA. The goal is to analyze how energy is traded in the United States using AI tools.

The company engages in very diverse research areas related to the U.S. energy market and is mainly composed of experienced researchers with advanced degrees. There are 5 research teams in the company, totaling about 30 researchers.

The company is located in Tel Aviv near the train line, combines one work-from-home day, and has 45 employees.

About the role

• The role is part of a team, focusing on Research to Production work with a research emphasis (70% of the time).
• The projects are varied, ranging from classical models, mathematics, graphs, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning.
• Work involves tabular data, weather data, and physical and economic simulations.
• Development is done in Python/JAVA.
• Their goal is to optimize the U.S. electricity market to avoid producing more electricity than needed.
• The job involves working with large-scale distributed pipelines, Data Science tasks, and dealing with Machine Learning, Statistics, Information Theory, Probability, Optimization, and Signal Processing.

Requirements-

• MSc or a PhD in EE/CS/math/Physics/Stats
• Solid data science research experience of at least 3 years in a data-intensive field (machine learning, NLP, computer vision, signal processing or related)- an advantage
• Deep understanding of at least one of the following domains: machine learning, statistics, information theory, probability, optimization, or signal processing
• Strong knowledge in programming (python, java)
• Track record of excellence
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced environment
• A can-do approach with a desire to tackle complex problems
