Backend Software Engineer

Joining our team as a backend engineer, you will collaborate with experienced engineers on the development of internal products and the infrastructure that supports our engineering division.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Work with a small team of experienced engineers
• Contribute to developing infrastructure and tools that support Outbrain's extensive scale.
• Use the right tools for the job: our tech stack includes battle-tested tools like Java/Kotlin, Python, MySql, Kubernetes, Docker and more.
• Produce high-quality code, adhering to best practices for coding and testing.

What you’ll Bring:

• Proficient in Java with a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience.
• Solid understanding and practical experience with Spring Boot framework.
• Experience with unit testing frameworks such as JUnit.
• Proficiency in SQL and database design/integration.Educational Background: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.Software Engineering Practices: In-depth
• knowledge of professional software engineering practices and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management (e.g., Git), build processes, testing, and operations.Problem-
• Solving Skills: Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and solve complex problems, and the capacity to understand and integrate third-party applications.Continuous Learning: Willingness to continuously learn, upgrade skills, and stay updated with emerging trends and technologies in backend development.

Advantageous Skills:

• Familiarity with Kubernetes for container orchestration and deployment.
• Experience with other JVM languages such as Kotlin.
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Kibana.
• Knowledge of microservices architecture and design patterns.
• knowledge in any shell scripting language (bash,sh)
