Junior Underwriter

The Junior Underwriter is tasked with the review of merchant applications, by systematically researching and verifying the accuracy of any statements and/or documentation provided and examining the validity of the merchant’s business model and sales practices. The work is done according to internal and external acceptance policies and guidelines.

This is a full-time position reporting directly to the Underwriting Team Leader.

• Receiving applications from various internal sources and making sure these are correct and in line with our procedures and guidelines.
• Reviewing merchant applications and approving or rejecting them along with providing an explanation as to any outstanding points.
• Maintaining contact with partners as well as internal stakeholders and facilitating in achieving a favorable outcome for applications.
• Tracking the status of ongoing applications and creating scheduled reports to reflect all open cases and their status.
  

• Microsoft Office Suite proficient: Outlook (A), Word (B), PowerPoint (A), Excel (A).
• High level of English- reading and writing.
• Good decision making and logic skills.

• Attentive to details.
• Clear written communication skills.
• Organized, able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Able to work independently and with minimal guidance as well as part of a larger team.
• Previous experience in the payments and/or financial services and/or insurance sector(s).
