Triple Whale centralizes and simplifies all the metrics used by Shopify sellers, enabling them to save more time and make more money. Triple Whale is seeking a Backend Engineer who will join our Devops team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a small DevOps team in a start-up environment where things move and change quickly. Keys to success will be an appreciation and understanding that the DevOps process will rapidly advance through different evolutions.

Our ideal candidate is an experienced backend engineer who is passionate about the impact that DevOps can make to a young organization. We are looking for someone who will always be one step ahead in understating new technologies and how to apply them practically. Responsibilities

• Help support daily operations through the use of automation.
• Help build a culture of continuous delivery for a better all-around software development and deployment experience.
• Responsible for the design, creation, configuration, and delivery of cloud infrastructure environments using automation best practices and a proactive strategy.
• Responsible for providing technology assessments that help continuously improve our stack.
• Responsible for automation of operational processes.
• Ensure 24/7 uptime to critical customer SaaS services serving thousands of customers/week.
• Implement the DevOps, DataOps and FinOps philosophy in everything you do
  
  

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience as a backend engineer with software architecture experience
• Degree is software engineering/ computer science preferred
• A must: Deep knowledge of Kubernetes or similar container orchestration stack
• Professional experience using Python, Node.js , JavaScript and/or other modern programming languages (Typescript is a plus).
• A must: Experience working as DevOps Engineer, SRE, systems engineer or other relevant role
• Database experience, specifically column based databases (Clickhouse a huge plus)
• Experience defining and maintaining an effective CI/CD pipeline
• Experience working with a cloud provider (e.g. GCP, AWS, Azure) and infrastructure cloud tools (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi etc.).
• Familiarity with serverless architectures and tech stack
• Familiarity with shell scripting
• A plus to have experience with tracking billing costs on cloud platforms
• Understanding of strategies for providing high availability and security
• Fast learner of new tech, excellent problem solver and time management
• Independent and knows how to manage workflows
• Strong disposition towards collaboration and communication
• Analytical and skilled at deductive reasoning
• Intellectually curious and willing to voice opinions and support them
