Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Candidates will typically have 8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.
• Typically 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
• Experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
• Experience designing and architecting modern enterprise production systems for enterprise customers.

• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• Candidates will typically have 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.

Andromeda is a scalable and flexible Software-Defined Network (SDN) stack that provides network virtualization and advanced networking features such as routing, firewall and load balancing, for Google Compute Engine (GCE) and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE). As such, Andromeda is a core component of the Google Cloud Platform (GCP), running on every physical host in the Google Cloud fleet and providing networking capabilities to all GCP customers.

As a Staff Software Engineer you will design, implement, and manage the reliable rollout of features to production. As a leader on the team you will build the team's roadmap, balancing long-term needs with current customer requirements, and the on-going improvement of the system and the code base.

Responsibilities

• Impact Google Cloud's ability to deliver advanced networking features to its Enterprise customers at a growing scale.
• Lead the work on the core infrastructure of the data plane that powers Google Cloud's highly reliable, scalable, and secure SDN. Implement infrastructure changes, major refactoring, and scale improvements.
• Mentor other team members and colleagues and foster a culture of engineering excellence.
• Facilitate alignment and clarity across teams on goals, outcomes, and timelines.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance large-scale software solutions.
