Back End Developer

Background

• Monocle is a well funded e-commerce enablement startup. We are a small and mighty team located in Tel Aviv and the US
• We are developing a cutting-edge promotion operating system that helps brands manage, analyze and optimize their promotional spend
• Our system uses Causal Machine Learning to analyze the incrementality of promotions and help our customers optimally invest their promotion budgets
• We are looking for a Data\Backend Engineer to join our team and help us build scalable web applications & data pipelines. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of both backend development and setting up real time data pipelines, as well as interest in working in a fast-paced startup environment

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain new products for Monocle’s Promotion Platform
• Work with backend engineers and data scientists to build a cohesive product
• Work with a stellar team of engineers, regularly teach and learn from other team members
• Work with customers and product owners to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications
• Prioritize between a large number of tasks based on what you see as the biggest customer pain point
• Participate in shaping the engineering and company culture of Monocle

Qualifications

• You have expert level understanding of modern web technologies, including batch/streaming data processing concepts
• Bouncing ideas in person and sketching architecture diagrams on a whiteboard is something you enjoy
• You’ve used these technologies before - Python, FastAPI (or similar web frameworks), Postgres (or equivalent), Redis, Docker, Kinesis, and SQS (or similar messaging technologies)
• You’ve set up multiple data pipelines and know what the common pitfalls are
• Huge advantage if you’ve worked in the past with Apache Flink, Databricks, DBT, Redshift
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
• 4+ years of experience in backend development
