Director of Mechanical Engineering

We are looking for an experienced Director of Mechanical Engineering who will lead our Mechanical Engineering Department.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the R&D mechanical team leaders and the mechanical engineers.
• Develop and execute the strategic direction for mechanical R&D department in alignment with the company goals, R&D objectives and KPIs.
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement within the mechanical R&D department, fostering a culture of creativity and collaboration.
• Ensure the successful planning, execution, and delivery of mechanical R&D projects within budget and timeline constraints.
• Manage subcontractors involved in mechanical engineering projects.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including software engineering, electrical engineering, and product, to integrate mechanical components into overall product architecture.
• Manage resources effectively, including budget, manpower, and equipment, to support the needs of the mechanical R&D department.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards, regulatory requirements, and safety regulations throughout the R&D lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• 15+ years of experience in R&D managerial roles, of which at least 7 years of experience in the Medical Device or Aerospace & Defense industry, etc. 
• Previous experience as a R&D Mechanical Manager of a 10+ sized team.
• Leading, managing, and scaling multidisciplinary (mechanical and hardware a must) products & R&D teams.
• Strong technical expertise in mechanical design, analysis, and prototyping.
• Experience in advanced development methods and best practices.
• Proven experience in leading managers, developing, coach & retain talents.
• Ability to lead R&D to deliver major innovation and roadmap items.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• hands-on approach, strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communicator: written and verbal.
