Senior Bioinformatician & Product Manager

In the past 20 years, GeneCards (www.genecards.org) has been the go-to resource for comprehensive, integrated information about human genes. Today, it is cited in the literature in thousands of publications and holds top positions in Google. More than 5 million researchers, clinicians, and patients worldwide use GeneCards every year, from thousands of institutions – academia, biotech/pharma, hospitals, and government.

LifeMap Sciences is the company that, in partnership with the Weizmann Institute of Sciences, develops and commercializes the GeneCards Suite.

We are seeking a senior bioinformatician with a doctorate or higher degree to lead our scientific efforts to enhance, expand and lead the GeneCards Suite in the next decade of scientific excellence .The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to work on exciting projects integrating Machine Learning and AI into the platform. This will involve both data integration and the development of customer-facing features.

Key responsibilities:

• Identify new opportunities, new trends, and new data sources that can contribute to the GeneCards Suite and its large user base, and spearhead their implementation in the knowledgebase
• Collaborate with R&D team to develop concepts and solutions for current and future challenges in the biological research and drug discovery fields
• Develop and prototype algorithms for integration into the databases and our analysis tools
• Collaborate with academic and commercial users
• Support the assurance of data and platform quality

Skill-set:

• Self-motivated, challenge-seeking team player
• Strong familiarity with genomic databases including NCBI, Uniprot, Ensembl
• Excellent oral and written English skills
• Experience with bioinformatics, scripting and statistical analysis tools (e.g. SQL, Matlab, Python, R)
