Medical Physicist

Job description:

Alpha Tau is looking for a physicist graduate to join the efforts to treat cancer patients with “Alpha DaRT” (Diffusing Alpha-emitters Radiation Therapy) technology in Hadassah University Medical Center (“Hadassah Ein Kerem”).

You will be responsible for procedure coordinating, planning, and analyzing Alpha Tau treatments performed in Hadassah. You will be the main POC of Hadassah to Alpha Tau’s treatments. This role also includes on job training in Hadassah with the potential of becoming qualified as a certified medical physicist by the ministry. This role presents a unique opportunity to experience both an innovative biomedical high-tech company and a leading medical organization in Israel. The work schedule consists of four days at Hadassah and one day at Alpha Tau's offices, both located in Jerusalem.

Roles and responsibilities:

·        Coordinate Alpha Tau treatments for eligible patients directed through Hadassah’s streamlined process.

·        Create and review treatment plans, implementation processes and outcomes to provide inputs and suggestions for improvements.

·        Analyze clinical data (post treatment DICOM images and radioactive measurements) to investigate in detail the relation between various aspects of the treatment and the clinical outcomes.

Qualifications:

• Education:
• B.Sc. in Physics / M.Sc in Nuclear Engineering or another relevant degree (no previous experience is required)
• Specialized knowledge:
• Familiarity with radiation and radioactive isotopes (handling, safety, detection techniques)
• Coding experience with Python or Matlab with knowledge in image processing – an advantage
• Skills and abilities:
• Fluent in English
• Good communication skills
• Be comfortable with being present in operation rooms
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
