Senior Software Architect- Azure Core

Our team is working on new FPGA-based accelerators to create hardware/software solutions that can achieve higher performance and scale for the future of Azure cloud digital data processing. We work on the cutting edge technology that makes a difference for millions of people worldwide.

As a Senior Software Architect in Azure Core Hardware Acceleration you will help develop software solutions for our compute hardware accelerators, focusing on security and confidential computing solutions. This opportunity will allow you to get acquainted with the security challenges of the public cloud and gain experience in developing and productizing software solutions on a very wide scale.

Responsibilities

• Drive identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for the software architecture solutions of the Confidential Computing cloud.
• Define HW-SW interfaces, key management and attestation flows
• Build device drivers, and other software components like diagnostic and monitoring tools for the production environment.
• Work with SW and HW teams around the globe to define and implement our confidential computing solutions.
• Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
  
  

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
• OR equivalent experience.
• Hands-on experience with kernel/driver development and debugging.
• Familiarity with cryptography: public-key/symmetric encryption, public key certificates.
• Knowledge of virtualization technologies (Single Root IO Virtualization, Hypervisors).
• Familiarity with hardware/software interfaces.
  

Other Requirements

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 
• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
• OR related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript,
• OR Python
• OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
• OR equivalent experience.
• Experience with WinDbg Windows debugger and/or Linux embedded software development.
• Experience with the Rust programming language.
• Familiarity with cloud-based infrastructure and services.
