Chemical Engineer

Plastic Back is a cleantech startup in the plastic-to-oil sector. The company has developed a chemical process that converts post-consumed plastic waste into valuable oils, which can be upcycled by the petrochemical industry. The company’s mission is to enable a circular economy by creating value in waste.

The company is seeking a Chemical Engineer with experience in the polymer processing or the petrochemical industry to join the company’s R&D and scale-up efforts. The candidate will work closely with the company’s chemists and engineering subcontractors at the company’s laboratories and scaleup sites.

Responsibilities:

·      Work closely with company chemists and engineering subcontractors

·      Lead scale-up measures to a pilot plant

·      Conduct energy and mass balance calculations, BFD, PFD, and simulations

·      Provide technical recommendations and engineering support during planned scaleup measures.

·      Conduct test runs to optimize process variables and evaluate pilot performance.

·      Monitor results and optimize the operating conditions of the process during test runs.

·      Research and analyze potential feedstock applications in petrochemical processes

·      Work with leading global partners (such as PVC producers, plastic recyclers. and petrochemicals)/ customers on identifying preferred points of integration and support the commissioning of the Plastic Back technology at their site.

Requirements

·       Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering (must)

·       Knowledge and experience of at least 5 years in new process design, including reactors for polymers, hydrocarbons, and petrochemical post processes, upstream and downstream feedstock integration, complex process facilities, and feedstock refining.

·       Experience in bringing conceptual designs of processes to Pilot or Demonstration plant scale-up to commercialization.

·       The candidate must be self-motivated, dynamic, and able to work independently.
