Data Engineer

A startup company developing a multidisciplinary product based on Big Data and Deep Learning, combined with cameras and Sensor Fusion installed on ships, providing real-time situational awareness to the crew and assisting in decision-making. Additionally, the system collects and learns from data, providing business insights to fleet managers.

The technology is particularly effective in dealing with expected maritime transitions and low visibility conditions, and it is considered a pioneering solution offered to the commercial shipping industry.

The company has major clients in the maritime and leading ship-owning industries worldwide, who have implemented the company's solutions in their fleets. They have been installing the system on their vessels over the past year. Recently, they signed an agreement with the world's largest shipping company and expect to triple their scale.

Based in Tel Aviv near a train station, they offer one day of remote work per week. They have a workforce of 50 employees.

Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the ongoing management of the data team platform including platform enhancements, capacity management, performance monitoring, troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues

• Designing and optimizing data storage solutions, including data warehouses and data lakes.

• Identify, design, and implement process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability.

• Developing and maintaining data pipelines for efficient extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.

• Participate in proofs-of-concept on platform innovation, and effectively transition and scale those concepts into production at scale through, engineering, deployment and commercialization.

• Part of a cross-disciplinary team, working closely with other data engineers, software engineers, data scientists, data managers and business partners.

Requirements:

• BSc or MSc degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline

• 5 years of experience in data/ software engineering within a production environment

• Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, SQL).

• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud services (AWS, GCP)

• Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases (e.g., Redshift, Postgres, MongoDB, Spark)

• Proficiency in data modeling and database management.
