JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Director of Resource Development is responsible for raising funds and managing a donor portfolio to cover the organization's 13M NIS annual budget. Responsibilities include developing and implementing a local and international fundraising strategy, locating new sources of support, grant writing and reporting, managing and developing donor relations, coordinating project design, and monitoring and evaluating projects with relevant department staff. The Director of Resource Development manages three coordinators in his or her department and oversees the work of the Finance Director to design project budgets and fulfill periodic donor reporting requirements.
Please note that this is a temporary maternity leave cover, with a planned start date of July 1st, 2024, and an estimated end date of March 1st, 2024. The first six weeks will involve onboarding with the outgoing Director of Resource Development.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Manage the ongoing relations with the organization's nearly 40 institutional donors, including major international organizations and private foundations. Ensuring compliance with reporting requirements, grant renewals, and ongoing communication with the organization's institutional donors.
2. Prepare detailed, comprehensive narrative activity reports for partners in accordance with existing funding contracts; work closely with the Finance Director to ensure implementation of funding agreements and periodic financial reporting.
3. Identify new funding opportunities, draft letters of inquiry, and write grant applications.
4. Manage and delegate responsibilities among the department's staff, editing LOIs, proposals, and reports written by the coordinators.
5. Formulate and implement an annual resource development work plan for 2025.
6. Manage and direct periodic fundraising appeals and campaigns, events, and other ad-hoc fundraising activities.
7. Manage the organization's relationships with and cultivation of individual donors.
8. Work closely with the organization's Board of Directors and dedicated volunteers on fundraising campaigns and initiatives.
9. Represent the organization at key meetings with international partners and stakeholders.
10. Sit on the organization's management team, participating in weekly management meetings and implementing management decisions and policies.
EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
· At least 5 years of prior experience in resource development - a must
· At least 2 years of management experience – strongly encouraged
· Experience writing major international grant applications (for the EU, UN agencies, and other major institutions) – a must
· Experience developing project budgets
· Self-starter, responsible, able to work independently
· Excellent organizational, writing, and communications skills
· Written and oral fluency in English - a must
· Working knowledge of Hebrew - required
· Arabic proficiency - an advantage
· Deep dedication to human rights and social justice for all – a must
Place of employment: hybrid (three days a week from PHRI's office in Jaffa, with the option to work from home two days a week)
Position: 100%
Salary: 14,000 NIS monthly, plus benefits
