Vice President of Bioprocessing

Job Summary:

As the Vice President of Bioprocessing, you will be a key player in transforming our innovative technology into high-quality cultivated meat products for consumers. You will play a pivotal role in our company's success by leading the development and implementation of bioprocessing strategies and technologies for the initial production, pilot, scale-up, and process development of cultivated meat. You will oversee the bioprocessing team and work closely with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, optimize production processes, and achieve key milestones in our mission to bring cultivated meat products to market.

Key Responsibilities:

• Bioprocessing Strategy: Develop and implement bioprocessing strategies aligned with company objectives, including the initial production, pilot-scale testing, scale-up, and process development of cultivated meat (cellular agriculture) products.
• Technology Development: Lead the development and optimization of bioprocessing technologies and methodologies for the efficient and scalable production of cultivated meat, leveraging the latest advancements in cell culture, tissue engineering, and bioreactor design, and ensuring continuous learning and integration of new knowledge.
• Pilot-Scale Testing: Design and oversee pilot-scale production trials to evaluate and optimize bioprocessing parameters, including cell culture media, scaffolding materials, bioreactor conditions, harvesting techniques, and ensure data collection and analysis to inform scale-up decisions.
• Scale-Up Planning: Develop comprehensive scale-up plans to transition from pilot-scale production to full-scale manufacturing, considering factors such as production capacity, facility requirements, equipment procurement, and resource allocation.
• Process Optimization: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize bioprocessing workflows, increase productivity, reduce costs, and enhance product quality and consistency.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with research and development, engineering, operations, quality assurance, and regulatory teams to ensure seamless integration of bioprocessing activities with overall company objectives and timelines.
• Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing bioprocessing team, providing mentorship, guidance, and support to drive innovation, excellence, and collaboration across all stages of product development. Attract, develop, and retain top bioprocessing talent to ensure a strong and knowledgeable team.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards for bioprocessing and food production, and participate in regulatory submissions and audits as needed.

Qualifications:

• Ph.D. or equivalent degree in bioengineering, chemical engineering, biotechnology, or a related field; MBA or business management experience is a plus.
• Extensive experience in bioprocessing, cell culture, tissue engineering, or related fields, with a track record of successful technology development, scale-up, and commercialization in the biotechnology or food industry.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams, drive innovation, and foster a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement.
• Deep technical expertise in bioprocessing techniques, bioreactor design, cell culture media formulation, and process optimization.
• Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively lead cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
