Director of Security Research

Summary
As the Director of Security Research at Varonis, you will lead our dedicated team of Security Researchers and Detection Engineers on a mission to safeguard our customers' cloud and organizational infrastructure against the ever-evolving landscape of cyber threats.
This pivotal role grants you access to expansive datasets, empowering you to delve into security research and craft innovative detection strategies that protect our customers' data and infrastructure.
You will identify attack methodologies and develop strategies to defend against them. You will be responsible for creating security detections from the research phase, through the development phase, and finalizing with the release to customers followed by an on-going accuracy monitoring.
You will report to the VP of Cybersecurity in Engineering and oversee the following responsibilities.
Responsibilities

• Leading research roadmap, innovation, defining KPIs and research methodology
• Identify possible vulnerabilities in cloud infrastructure and services as well as organizational infrastructure and develop strategies to defend against them.
• Provide security simulations and penetration testing to identify customer system vulnerabilities.
• Develop and implement security policies, procedures, and standards to ensure the highest level of security for our customers’ data and infrastructure.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that security measures are integrated into all aspects of our products/services.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest security trends, technologies, and best practices.
  

Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience in cybersecurity, with a focus on security research
• At least 5 years of proven experience leading a technical team of senior security specialists
• Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure and services as well as organizational infrastructure
• In-depth understanding of organizational security, risks, and potential attack vectors
• Strong data analysis capabilities - Experience with identifying and analyzing trends or patterns related to security incidents in datasets (e.g. SQL)
• Experience with malware analysis, security simulations and penetration testing.
• Excellent leadership, communication, innovation, and problem-solving skills.
  

Advantages

• Proven experience with security research activities, incident response and\or red-team operations, penetration testing
• Programming and scripting knowledge, ability to write and understand code in various languages
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, OSCP, or CEH or equivalent.
