Responsibilities

ALEF’s program director is tasked with overall responsibility for the initiative, including, defining long-term and short-term goals and work plans, operating programs, overseeing finances, responsibility for employment of program staff, managing staff and volunteers, and direct and constant communication with the local refugee community. It is primarily an administrative role, but also involves hands-on management.

Qualifications

The role requires awareness and knowledge of all programs, as well as frequent contact with coordinators for any issues or troubleshooting. Social and cultural awareness is also required, with an ability to communicate with a wide range of people with diverse backgrounds and sensibilities.

● Experience working with statusless or otherwise marginalized/vulnerable populations, preferably in Israel.

● Experience in project management, building work plans, budgets, and working with mid and long term goals.

● Long term commitment to the position.

● Background or experience in community work and local advocacy.

● Strong communication and people skills.

● Ability to work independently and take initiative, in addition to team management skills.

● Flexibility and creativity to respond to dynamic challenges and issues.

● Fluent Hebrew, reading and writing. English is also preferred but not required beyond conversational fluency
