Project Manager & molecular biologist (Maternity leave replacement)

Alagene, the Israeli biofoundry, is looking for a talented Project Manager with molecular biology background for its ongoing SynBio activity in a high pace startup environment. The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of our projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. In addition, the project manager will support various molecular biology operations in both bacteria and yeasts that are part of exciting, innovative & multidisciplinary projects for leading biotech companies.

Position Responsibilities:

• Lead project planning, execution, and delivery. Drive team collaboration and efficiency.
• Work closely with the managing team to improve project management processes and methodologies, drive efficiency and effectiveness across the company.
• Coordinate resources and communicate with stakeholders.
• Contribute to lab day-to-day operations (media prep, inventory maintenance etc.) & conduct molecular biology R&D projects practicing top notch molecular biology methods.

Requirements:

• M.Sc. in molecular biology/ microbiology/ biotechnology/ biochemistry/ related scientific degree.
• Demonstrated competence in standard culturing and isolation techniques for bacteria & yeast + molecular biology techniques (PCR, cloning etc.)- a must.
• Proven industry experience managing projects from initiation to completion in a related field.
• Strong leadership, written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency in project management tools (e.g. MS project)- preferred.
• Ability to execute and thrive in a dynamic startup environment.

Advantageous Experience:

• Fermentation techniques, Yeasts (S. cerevisiae and/or P. pastoris)/ Bacillus and/or Lactobacillus work experience
• Background in plasmid editing software (e.g., Ape, Snapgene)
• Python coding/ Automated laboratory systems /high-throughput biological processes
• Downstream process and analytic methods
