Head of Formulation – maternity leave replacement

EcoPhage was founded in 2018 on the heels of proprietary technology co-developed with the world renown Weizmann Institute of Science. With an estimated 10% of the world’s food production is lost due to plant diseases, and bacterial infections being a significant contributor, we set ourselves to utilizes the power of bacteriophages to create a new path for sustainable agriculture.

Bacteriophages (or phages in short), viruses which uniquely target bacteria, offer a biological solution to preventing disease and curing plants. Phages have the potential to become a feasible alternative to conventional pesticides thanks to their high specificity, superior effectiveness and minimal impact on the environment. As pioneers in this field of Agri-tech, EcoPhage’s mission is to revolutionize crop protection by developing and delivering sustainable biological solutions that replace chemicals, to close the gap of untreated plant diseases while maximizing the quality, yields, and production of food.

We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Research and Development Scientist to lead our team of formulation scientists in the exciting field of biopesticide formulation solutions. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in advancing our scientific endeavors and contributing to the development of sustainable pest control solutions.

Position Details:

This is a full-time position available during maternity leave

Responsibilities:

Team Leadership and Problem Solving:

•Manage and lead a team of scientists.

•Serve as the focal point for scientific and technical challenges.

•Collaborate closely with the CEO, Head of R&D, senior team leaders, and external consultants.

Experiments:

•Design and execute experiments related to biopesticide formulations.

•Ensure adherence to project timelines and budget constraints.

Materials Management: Oversee the stock and budget for formulation materials.

Requirements:

Education: MSc in life science or PhD, with a focus on biochemistry, biotechnology, or equivalent fields.

Experience:

•Hands-on experience in a microbiological research laboratory is essential, experience with bacteriophages is a plus.

•Prior management experience is advantageous.

•Background in chemistry or manufacturing scale-up (particularly new product introduction) is a plus.

•Fast learner, self-motivated, and a strong team player.

Proficient in both Hebrew and English.
