Principle Process Engineer

Dotz is looking for a Principal Process Engineer for establishing and leading a new engineering department. The recipient will help scale up our novel carbon dioxide separation processes from lab-scale demonstration to full industrial scale system. The recipient will work closely with members of the Research team who specialize in adsorbent synthesis, lab-scale sorption analysis, lab-scale cycle testing, and process modeling. The recipient will also work closely with members of the Engineering teams in various international research organizations, specializing in CO2 capture, such as SINTEF and CSIRO, as well as engineering partners, who will support the design of the various scale-up units.

General Responsibilities:

• Participate in/lead the process simulations at various points along the scale-up journey to optimize the sorbent/process system.
• Participate in the process design, throughout the scale-up journey, of the carbon dioxide separation processes in conjunction with international research organizations engineering teams.
• Determine process parameters for input into the design of other sub-systems, particularly feed pressurization, vacuum, CO2 pressurization, and CO2 storage.
• Lead the scale-up fabrication and testing of our novel carbon dioxide separation processes from lab-scale cycle testing to a full-scale system, including troubleshooting and optimization.

• Participate in/lead techno economic evaluations of the novel capture process at scale.

Requirements:

• Masters/PhD in Chemical or Process Engineering
• 5+ years of industrial gas separation experience
• R&D experience working on gas separation processes with short timelines and limited resources.
• Experience with process modeling and simulations, and techno economic modeling.
• Experience designing processes for PTSA or TSA gas separation systems.
• Experience scaling gas separation processes from lab to pilot and commercial scale.
• Experience moving quickly and making decisions with significant uncertainty.
• Unusually strong leadership, communication skills, ownership, and strategic thinking
• Excellent English (speaking and writing).

Nice to Have:

• Experience with adsorption, solid porous adsorbents, and PTSA/TSA cycles
• Experience designing novel gas separation processes, and with process optimization
• Experience with a wide range of bed sizes and applications
• Experience with carbon dioxide separation
• Experience with vacuum and compression systems
• Experience with adsorbent characterization (e.g. volumetric or gravimetric sorption analysis, breakthrough testing, cycle testing)
