Junior Technical Writer

Headquartered in Netanya, Orbit Communication Systems develops and manufactures advanced satellite communication systems for both the civilian and military sectors, locally and worldwide.

The company has three major terminal product lines: airborne, maritime, and terrestrial. Together with off-the-shelf products, a considerable number of products undergo modification and tailoring per specific customer requirements, so any particular product may have numerous variations.

Orbit Communication Systems is a longstanding company that was founded in the 1950s. Today it is a public company that is traded in the Israeli Stock Exchange.

We are looking for a junior technical writer to join our ranks, for documenting both hardware and software. As a starting junior writer, we do not expect you to have a lot of technical writing experience, but we do want you to have the basic skills, motivation, matching personality, and be open to a lot of learning, guidance, and self-discipline as you grow and develop. You will be reporting to the technical writing team leader, who is currently the sole and senior writer in the company.

Our customers require standard PDF documents rather than an online knowledge center, so be ready to work in the traditional cover-to-cover document mindset. With that said, new delivery methods could be adopted in the future.

To match our requirements, you must have:

·    Excellent command of both English (for writing the documentation) and Hebrew (for communicating orally and over emails within the company). Any additional language is a plus.

·    Interest in various technical or technology areas, with emphasis on hardware devices.

·    Passion for writing accurately in a well-organized manner.

·    Natural sense of logical structure for document outlining.

·    Fair knowledge of using styles, sections, and other functions in MS Word.

·    Good sense of consistency and writing style.

·    Good sense of cross-referencing within a document.

·    Good eye for small details, such as hardware specifications.

·    Personal ability to blend with different types of people and obtain information or cooperation.

·    Openness to SME feedback, opinions, and sometimes criticism in a demanding environment, with ability to adapt and accommodate professionally and in good spirit.

·    Time management and multitasking skills.

·    Israeli citizenship for passing a security clearance check.

·    Willingness to commute to the office 3 times a week or more (as may be required).

·    Willingness to pass a writing test.
