Lab Description

DSL, the Device Spectroscopy Laboratory at Bar-Ilan University, is focused on spectroscopy of nanoscale materials and devices. We are passionate about understanding and tailoring light-matter interactions at the molecular level, and then working together as a TEAM to parlay these insights into spectroscopy-based devices that can ultimately be useful and helpful for mankind. Current projects include: (1) trace detection of bio-markers using Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy in a patent-pending device for early detection of diseases, (2) Super-spectral-resolution Raman scattering to compare natural vs. lab-grown diamond, (3) spectroscopic gas detection using all-inorganic perovskite devices, (4) near-field optical microscopy based on patent-pending methods for tip-enhanced Rayleigh scattering, stimulated Raman scattering, and fsec 2-photon absorption, (5) optical micro-cavity enhanced spectroscopy of nano-materials. Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role to become a researcher in DSL as part of Bar Ilan's Institute for Nanotechnology and Advanced materials (BINA). One can join the lab as a free-lance researcher, post-doctoral fellow or as a student through the Chemistry Department or as a joint student through other departments for a research centered degree. Members of the lab learn abroad skill set in nanotechnology, photonics, materials science, and spectroscopy.

Qualifications

• Strong lab skills, including proficiency in lab techniques and equipment
• Experience with data analysis software such as MATLAB, Python, and LabVIEW
• Excellent analytical and research skills
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team setting
• Understanding of physical chemistry principles
