DevOps Engineer

The ASTERRA R&D department is seeking a resourceful and independent engineer highly motivated to work as part of our Data Science team, where they will have the opportunity to play a leading part in ASTERRA’s technological growth, utilizing advanced tools and techniques. Additionally, they will be responsible for applying the discipline of MLOps, which involves integrating DevOps practices into Machine Learning Operations.

Responsibilities

• Full lifecycle responsibility for model and data development platform (data processing, model training, evaluation, serving, and monitoring).
• Working collaboratively with your Data Science, Data and ML Engineering colleagues to enable continuous ML Operations.
• Full lifecycle responsibility for the model and data asset infrastructure and tooling, in coordination with our DevOps engineers, to ensure ML Operations are reproducible, reliable, and scalable.
• Provide technical leadership in topics of MLOps processes, tools, and infrastructure.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• At least 2 years’ experience as an MLOps engineer, DevOps engineer, or backend engineer.
• Enthusiasm to learn and share your knowledge, leading our MLOps practice.
• Experience building and deploying containers using Docker & Kubernetes.
• Experience working with AWS (IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, S3, EC2, RDS, cost optimization etc.).
• Experience scripting in Python and Linux shell.
• Experience developing Infrastructure as Code (IAC) in OpenTofu / Terraform.
• Experience working with development toolchains including Git.

Preferred Qualifications

• An academic degree in software engineering or a related field.
• MLOps Engineering or AWS certifications.
• Experience with workflow management in Airflow.
• Experience implementing CI and CD workflows using GitHub.
• Experience with distributed processing technologies such as Ray, Dask, RAPIDS, or Spark.
• Familiarity with Machine Learning workflows and tools.
• DBA experience including PostgreSQL.
• Experience with geographical imagery and GIS data.
• Open-source contributions demonstrating the above.
