Join the Israel team of the Jewish Federations of North America in its historic emergency response effort
When disaster struck on October 7, Jewish Federations of North America sprang into action to assess the scope of the needs, identify urgent priorities, and determine how to best lead and support our system’s philanthropic response in the immediate aftermath of the attack. As of this writing, more than $780 million has been raised, with more than $343 million active in the field responding to the critical needs of the moment.

The Israel office of the Jewish Federations of North America is currently recruiting for two open positions: Israel Emergency, Planning Associate and Israel Emergency, Special Projects Associate.
Key tasks include:
- Preparation of briefing papers, presentations, and supporting documentation.
- Research and writing on relevant issues
- Dashboard creation and tracking of workstream progress
- Internal coordination and communication
- Draft talking points and mission briefings
- Special events and meetings
- Support team leaders on a wide variety of ad hoc assignments
Please note: these positions are project-based and time-limited for one year, with the potential for a six-month extension.
Required Experience, Skills and Competencies:
- Demonstrated commitment to the mission and core values of the Jewish Federations of North America through previous work experience and/or volunteer activities
- Minimum 5 years of related experience and a level of success and accomplishment in the nonprofit sector (either as a professional or volunteer). Jewish Federation experience is a plus!
- Experience working in complex environments and a comfort level with personally interacting with senior professionals, funders, Federation leadership, grantee organizations and others
- Strong eye for detail, strong organizational skills
- Native level English and very high-level Hebrew language skills (both oral and written)
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities and work with a diverse group of professionals with different work styles
- Team player who possesses the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and departmentally
- Available to work flexible hours including evenings on a frequent basis
- High level of competency with all MS Office applications
- Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree preferred.
