Databases and Systems Experts / Architects (JB-163)

Huawei’s Tel Aviv Research center (also known as Toga Networks) is looking for outstanding Database Architects and Systems Experts to join our Database experts group. We develop next generation Data Analytics, HTAP and Data Science systems. Our work includes contribution to open source projects and to commercialize version as well.

The position is unique in the Israeli hi-tech industry as it offers an opportunity for performing state of the art research, patents and publication, along with development of new systems and products – in a corporate setup, while joining a vibrant local team that balances innovation with product-orientation.

JOB DESCRIPTION

·Research new DB technologies towards conception followed by architecture, design, prototyping, development, testing and benchmarking

· Collaborating with stakeholders to understand their requirements and identify opportunities

· Analysis and evaluation of relevant state of the art (academic papers) and competitors’ products

· Knowledge transfer of prototypes, code and results

REQUIREMENTS

·Education: B.Sc. in CS or EE, M.Sc./ Ph.D. in CS is an advantage

·Experience: At least 4 years of software development.

·Excellent C/C++ programming skills

·experience in writing technical design documents

·Ability to consider the broader picture while still diving into details

·Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly

·Strong problem-solving skills

·Have a thorough knowledge of multi-threading and high-performance design and implementation

·Development experience in the Linux environment

NICE TO HAVE

• Familiarity with RDBMS or/and DWH and/or Data Science products (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, AWS Aurora) / (e.g. AWS RedShift, Snowflake, Apache Druid, Apache Kafka)

• Experience with Distributed Systems and Networking Stacks

• Experience with cloud & virtualization

• Linux kernel development skills

• Experience with Storage Systems and Data Centers

• Experience with NOSQL

• Experience with HW/SW co-design

• Experience with x86 and ARM64 architectures

• Entrepreneurial experience or at least exposure to the business and market aspects of the IT industry

QUALIFICATIONS

·Proven sound knowledge and hands-on experience of core computer science principles of database systems, operating systems, networking, performance evaluation, distributed and parallel systems, compilers, low-level performance analysis down to the microarchitecture level

·Ability to see the big picture and conceive a high-level architecture

·Excellent communications and presentation skills and ability to work as part of an international team

·Self-motivation, self-organization, independence, curiosity, thoroughness, creativity, innovation
