Linux System Administrator

Responsibilities:

Installation and Configuration: Deploy and configure Linux-based servers, ensuring compatibility and adherence to organizational standards.

System Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize resource utilization to maintain high availability and efficiency.

Security Management: Implement and maintain security measures, including access controls, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems, to protect against cyber threats and ensure compliance with security policies.

Backup and Recovery: Develop and maintain backup and recovery procedures to safeguard critical data and ensure business continuity in the event of system failures or disasters.

Patch Management: Manage system updates and patches to address vulnerabilities and ensure systems are up to date with the latest security fixes and enhancements.

User Support: Provide technical support to end-users, resolving issues related to system configuration, software installation, and performance optimization.

Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps. Generate regular reports on system performance, security incidents, and compliance status.

Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing: Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify requirements, propose solutions, and implement best practices. Share knowledge and expertise with team members to promote continuous learning and improvement.

Requirements:

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in Linux system administration, preferably in a complex enterprise environment.

Proficiency in administering Linux-based operating systems, such as Ubuntu, CentOS, or Red Hat.

Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and services (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).

Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM, Docker, etc.) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef) and version control systems (Git).

Security Knowledge: Solid understanding of security principles and best practices, including encryption, access controls, and threat detection/mitigation.

Scripting and Automation: Proficiency in scripting languages (Bash, Python, Perl) and automation tools to streamline routine tasks and processes.

Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.

Certifications: Relevant certifications such as RHCSA, RHCE, LPIC, or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator are a plus.
