Guides and advises company management on legal issues. Pursues actions to enable business client's and Chevron's compliance with law, regulation, and policy. Helps protect Chevron's interests and manage risk. Develops and recommends changes to company policies and procedures. Negotiates, drafts, and reviews agreements. Selects, retains, and partners with specialized outside counsel as needed for litigation, claims, advice, and transactional matters. Guides work performed by Legal Support functions.

Supports larger customers/clients and may lead functional projects under infrequent supervision. Developing a detailed knowledge of the work function.

Attorney – Chevron Mediterranean Limited (CML) (Herzliya, Israel Office)

Eastern Mediterranean Business Unit (EMED BU)

The EMED Legal Team are a collaborative and trusted EMED BU business partner proactively managing BU legal risks, creating effective business solutions and delivering pragmatic strategic advice on legal, regulatory and commercial matters. The EMED Legal Team handle all legal work associated with Chevron’s upstream and midstream business in Israel, Egypt, Cyprus and Jordan including the CML operated Israel offshore gas platforms Tamar and Leviathan.

This is an Attorney position in the EMED Legal Team that will work out of the CML Herzliya, Israel office and will report to the Managing Counsel – EMED BU. The successful candidate will support all legal work associated with the EMED BU and will accept work assignments from all Senior Counsel members of the EMED Legal Team and directly from BU clients.

Responsibilities For This Position

• Provide day to day legal advice and support to all EMED BU operations and supporting functions including Supply Chain, Finance, Compliance, Environment Health & Safety, Regulatory, Joint Ventures, Human Resources, Marketing and Corporate Affairs.
• Legal research, contract and correspondence drafting associated with a variety of legal issues and stakeholders.
• Work closely with current EMED Legal Team made up of four in-house senior counsel, administrative assistant and Managing Counsel to assist with all BU associated legal work.
• Work with various outside counsel as needed while managing workloads and third party spend.
• Learn about the EMED region oil and gas energy business, CML’s partners and Israel Government regulators to understand the regional energy industry in order to provide effective, practical and timely legal advice and counsel.
• Attend various meetings with BU clients, project partners, vendors, and relevant government regulators.
• Partner with Chevron global legal team in Houston, London and San Ramon as well as specialized Chevron legal colleagues around the world to implement Chevron policy and to address all EMED regional legal issues.
• Assist the broader Chevron legal team and compliance with any regional BU training.
  
  

• Licensed to practice law in Israel and in good standing with the Israeli Bar Association.
• LL.B., JD or equivalent degree.
• Range of 4 to 7 years’ experience as an attorney in a law firm or in-house legal department.
• Knowledge of oil and gas exploration, production, midstream and regulatory legal issues is preferred but not required.
• Fluent speaking, business and legal reading and writing proficiency in English and Hebrew required.
• Demonstrated drafting, communication and negotiating skills, strong work ethic and ability to contribute positively in a team environment.
• Experience with international agreements and the Israeli legal and regulatory system.
• Ability to handle substantial work volume and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven client counseling skills in providing pragmatic day-to-day advice; informing clients of important legal developments and explaining potential legal risks.
  
  

• This is an office environment role that is required to spend at least three days a week in the Herzliya, Israel CML office (policy may vary).
• Some regional and occasional international travel.
• Local Israel payroll position with no relocation assistance or expat eligibility.
