We're looking for an experienced Head of Mechanical Engineering & Industrial Design, for our retail photo-products business. We are looking for an out-of-the-box & creative thinker and maker who has the discipline of a researcher and an eye for beautiful, intuitive, innovative designs. An individual who is not afraid of hard, detailed-oriented manual work, who also knows how to see the bigger picture, understands the customers and the business and can plan ahead. Background in mechanical engineering.

Who should you be?

• A Mechanical Engineering lead, with a passion for high-end design and a drive to integrate physical products with new manufacturing technologies and approaches
• 5+ years of experience in CAD software, preferably Solidworks/Onshape
• Experience in working on products with high user-facing requirements and standards
• Experience in preparing production files for metal machining and 3D printing
• Experience in high-volume production environments, or supporting high-volume products
• Experience in driving high-end designs aimed for mass-production
• Ability to take an idea and turn it into a mass-market product (0 to 1)
• Fast mover - work fast, meet deadlines, and find smart shortcuts to get the work done
• Agile in thought and action, ready to pivot as needed
• Analytical - comfortable with numbers and analytics
• Strong communication skills - presentation, verbal, and written

• Envision our future products as well as the next generations of our existing products
• E2E new product initiation process ownership
• Collect and define the Physical product requirements
• Compile 3D and 2D drawings to communicate production plans
• Use our workshop to build and create tools and prototypes for testing
• Source materials for R&D, engage and interact with suppliers located across the globe
• Plan and execute experiments for R&D. Summarize and present experiment results
• Work closely with Sourcing and Operations teams to ensure a realistic plan and smooth transition to production
