Storage + Backup administrator

A global company is seeking a dynamic IT administrator to take responsibility of their Storage and Data Protection environments. The admin will be part of the Servers team, and among the Storage and Data Protection role, they will also manage the server’s environment. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Manage Dell Storage + Backup’s 
• Perform daily monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of backup jobs on platforms ( Oracle, SQL Server, Windows, VMware, and Linux servers). 
• Analyse backup software performance accordingly to meet client needs and monitoring of scheduled backups to ensure success or take remedial action for failures 
• Manage and support Storage systems, including vulnerability remediation, capacity management, configuration management, provisioning and zoning of new servers using SAN switches. 
• Perform regular DR (Disaster Recovery) test plan of backup data restoration and storage replication availability. 
• Monitor usage and performance of storage and perform capacity planning for storage growth to management. 
• Ensure service levels meet requirements. 
• Expected to work during off-peak hours on system activities (e.g. patching, upgrade) 
• Be able to effectively operate within set guidelines, policies and procedures, and able to execute instructions with minimal supervision 
• Advantage in having knowledge in LINUX and WINDOWS operating systems. 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 

• Minimum 4 years working experience relevant to functional area. 
• Hands-on Linux OS expertise, Windows knowledge. 
• Hands-on experience on Storage and Backup 
• BCP/DR (Business Continuity Plan/Disaster Recovery) Data recovery/restoration and replication monitoring and configuring. 
• SAN switch administration and configuration for Brocade or Cisco switches 
• Advantage to have L1 level knowledge in LINUX. 
• Advantage to have L1 level knowledge in WINDOWS. 
• knowledge and experience with firewalls and security controls 
• knowledge and experience with Cisco switches and routers 
• Candidate must have the ability to work with a sense of urgency in an aggressive, multi-tasking environment. 
• Candidate must be a clear communicator with strong organization skills.
