Lead C++ Software Engineer

Job Description

Athena Core Data & Storage Team offers storage and streaming solutions that handles millions of transactions per day. The team is seeking a software engineer who will contribute to the development and modernization of highly reliable and performant globally distributed NoSQL database. Areas of involvement will also include development of a custom computational and streaming engine.

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase, you serve as a seasoned member of Athena Core Data & Storage to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, and scalable way. As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within Investment Banking and Athena Core you are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job Responsibilities

• Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
• Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems
• Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
• Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies
• Collaborate with global international team of technical engineers and product owners
• Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
  
  

Requirements

• Strong system design and algorithm optimization skills.
• Commercial development in imperative programming languages. Strong C++.
• Working knowledge of operating systems, including performance considerations and multithreading.
• Experience with debuggers and profilers and revision control tools.
• Strong system troubleshooting skills, solid understanding of Computer Science fundamentals.
• Creative, quick-thinking, pragmatic, with an aptitude for solving problems with technology and an ability to quickly translate requirements into a sound technical design and implementation.
• Solid understanding of NoSQL database principles and distributed systems
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills
  
  

Preferred Qualifications And Skills

• Hands-on experience with cloud-native database technologies such as MongoDB is an advantage
• Exposure to cloud technologies ideally AWS
• Python experience is a plus
• Experience with SQL or NoSQL query languages
• Familiarity with data modelling
