BACKGROUND
IsraAID is an Israel-based non-governmental organization that was founded in 2001 and has since its inception worked in emergency and long-term development settings in over 55 countries. IsraAID’s mission is to support people affected by humanitarian crises by partnering with local communities around the world to provide urgent aid, assist recovery, and reduce the risk of future disasters.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In close collaboration with the HQ Finance Officer and Head of Operations, manage finance functions in the Israel emergency response mission with IsraAid financial guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Budgeting and Planning
- Support Heads of Operations team with the preparation of budgets for emergency missions
- Provide guidance to the response team on financial matters
- Ensure adherence by the response team to IsraAID’s best practices
- Financial Control and Monitoring
- Responsible for accurate Budget versus Actual reports from the field
- Key person in monitoring over/ under spending in emergency budgets
- Ensure compliance with donors’ requirements etc.
- Prepare donor reports
- Training and Guidance for local Finance teams
- Train new book keepers hires in IsraAID guidelines and best practices
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to local finance teams, team members in the field of expertise
- Other
- Support in development of streamlined templates, formal guidelines and forms for internal financial documents
Expense and Payments Management
- Assist team members with the submission of weekly expense reports to the HQ finance team.
- Ensure that all expenses are supported by soft copies of receipts and any expense without a receipt is approved and signed the Head of location.
- Ensure that all staff submit their expense reports, including copies of all receipts, on time by the end of every week.
- Submit the weekly expense reports to HQ finance team.
- Ensure payments to suppliers and recurrent expenditures are made in a timely manner with the appropriate authorization and the organization’s internal procedures
- Liaise between the local staff members and the HQ finance and procurement staff
Due to the nature of the organization, the candidate should be prepared to undertake any other duties as required
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
- Minimum 2 years of demonstrated working experience in bookkeeping or finance role.
- Confident & proficient in the use of MS Office, and advanced Excel proficiency.
- Organized and process oriented person
- Highly flexible, problem solver with a “can-do” attitude
- Team player as well as independent thinker
- Ability to manage and prioritize a high workload and multiple tasks with tight deadlines
- Good interpersonal skills to establish strong working relationships with colleagues
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Hebrew
