We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Drone Operation Project Manager to lead a 4-month data collection project utilizing drones in the agriculture sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing a team of drone pilots, ensuring the efficient and successful execution of the project, and providing training for drone operations. This role requires expertise in drone piloting, a Part 107 license, a proven track record in managing high-paced and dynamic operations, and experience in training for drone operations.

Additional Information:

The project is in the mid-west and will occur between April and September.

The hired person will be classified as a 1099 contractor.

A flexible work schedule is required, as activities can be affected by weather conditions.

Responsibilities - what you’ll be doing:

• Develop and execute a comprehensive project plan for the 4-month agricultural data collection project.
• Ensure project milestones and deliverables are met within specified timelines
• Manage a team of drone pilots, providing leadership and guidance
• Conduct daily briefings and debriefings to ensure clear communication and understanding of project goals.
• Monitor and evaluate the performance of drone pilots on a daily basis
• Implement corrective actions when necessary to maintain high-quality data collection
• Establish and track key metrics related to drone operations and agricultural data collection
• Analyze data to identify areas for improvement and implement changes accordingly
• Develop and conduct training programs for drone pilots, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and project requirement
• Provide ongoing support and guidance to enhance the skills of the drone pilot team
• Proactively identify and troubleshoot operational or technical issues that may arise during drone operations
• Collaborate with technical support teams to resolve any technical challenges promptly
• Ensure all drone operations adhere to regulatory requirements and safety protocols
• Stay updated on industry regulations and integrate changes into project operations
  
  

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience
• Part 107 drone pilot license is mandatory
• Proven experience as a drone pilot with a strong understanding of drone technology
• Previous experience in managing high-paced and dynamic operations
• Experience in training for drone operations
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick, informed decisions
• Strong communication and leadership skills
