Lead Designer(Infrastructures and Systems)

For a key Institutional Engineering company operating in the construction of large metropolitan infrastructures, We are looking for a Lead Designer - Infra #2 Works (Rail systems & MEP)

The selected candidate will collaborate within the Mobility Systems Department, reporting to the in line manager, mainly dealing with the design, technical verification of projects, field activities and factory tests in the following specialized areas, applied to urban transport systems (subways, light railways, tramways) and railways, with – inter alia – the following responsibilities:

• Providing technical guidance, governance and day-today coordination of medium/large size systems design team and perform design review activities for contractual conformance
• Drafting and reviewing the status and adequacy of the design review plan to ensure continuing suitability and effectiveness
• Receiving, distributing, and tracking design reviews and design submittals for the duration of design and construction
• Contributing to the successful delivery of the project by leading and coordinating cross-discipline interfaces from a technical design perspective
• Ensuring appropriate processes and skills are in place to assure the safety and integrity of all engineering deliverables and projects
• Developing and managing a medium/large team of design engineers to raise the level of their technical capability and understanding
• Regularly engaging with the project senior management team when determining the allocation of resources (design/engineering) to support the project and initiating changes when necessary
• Providing leadership, direction and guidance to staff to ensure quality technical services are provided that meet both the project and client requirements
• Identifying and managing the delivery of information required; monitoring their progress against agreed delivery dates
• Identifying, reviewing and advocating changes (variations) to designs in terms of technical capability, cost effectiveness, scope, durability and maintainability of design solutions.

The Ideal candidate has the following requirements:

• Master's Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Professional experience of at least 15 years in Engineering Companies or Design Firms, for activities similar to those described abo
• Mastery of the English language is required, with excellent ability to read technical texts and a good ability to write and express oneself. Knowledge of other languages is also an element of evaluation
• Predisposition to interpersonal relationships, attitude to teamwork, dynamism, autonomy, initiative and tenacity. Resources management, tracking project progress and de-bottlenecking. Excellent knowledge of rail, metro or related project design, project, design assurance and safety management principals, specifically on rail systems & MEP disciplines and codes. Good knowlege of principal specific software for BIM and electrical/mechanical calculation and about international technical codes and regulations.
• Availability for short/long trips, even abroad.
