The ideal candidate will have strong background in all facets of experimental silicon photonics, hold a Ph.D. degree in physics or electrical engineering, and have at least 5 years of experience in silicon photonics research, either in industry or academia. Hand-on experience in clean-room fabrication processes will be a strong advantage.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop silicon photonic devices on all levels – design, simulation, fabrication, testing and analysis.
2. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop novel solutions and techniques in the field of quantum computing and cold atoms.
3. Develop and optimize fabrication processes for silicon photonic devices with partners and vendors.
4. Design and automate testing and characterization setups.
Qualifications:
1. Ph.D. in physics or Electrical Engineering, with a specialization in silicon photonics.
2. Minimum of 5 years of research experience in silicon photonics, gained through industry or academic positions.
3. Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of silicon photonics, including device design, fabrication, and characterization.
4. Experience with modeling and simulation tools for silicon photonics, such as Lumerical, COMSOL, or equivalent. (Lumerical and Python – preferred)
5. Familiarity with fabrication techniques for silicon photonic devices, such as cleanroom processing and lithography. Hands-on experience – strong advantage.
6. Knowledge of characterization techniques for silicon photonic devices, including optical testing and measurement.
7. Experience with industrial silicon photonic foundries and processes (preferred).
8. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to propose and execute innovative research ideas.
9. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a research team.
