Role Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced developer and team leader to manage our R&D department. As the VP R&D, you will play a significant role in shaping the technological direction of the company, overseeing our computer vision and web development projects, and leading teams working on cutting-edge technologies.

We’re building something special here, and we're looking for a VP of R&D who will grow our Engineering organization, provide technical leadership and guidance, oversee the development of new products, and implement long-term technology strategies. This position reports directly to the CEO and is a significant part of our leadership team.

Responsibilities:

• Technical Leadership:

> Provide active, hands-on support to our R&D teams, leveraging your technical expertise to troubleshoot challenges, offer guidance on best practices, and ensure the successful execution of projects.

> Spearhead the strategic planning and meticulous management of development milestones, ensuring alignment with overarching project timelines.

> Provide strategic direction for technology initiatives, aligning them with business goals.

> Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive innovation.

• Team Management

> Lead, manage, and mentor multiple R&D teams, fostering the company’s culture and spirit.

> Promote collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

> Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and professional development of team members.

• Fullstack Development

> Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain web applications.

> Work on both front-end and back-end development tasks, ensuring a seamless user experience.

> Utilize your knowledge of Websockets and Redis servers to enhance real-time communication and data caching in web applications.

• AI & Computer Vision

> Lead and oversee our AI & Computer Vision teams and projects, to assure they meet development milestones, and achieve business goals.

> Support and guide our AI & Computer Vision teams

• Database Management

> Manage MySQL databases, ensuring optimal performance, security, and data integrity.

> Collaborate with teams to design and implement efficient database structures.

• Cloud Computing

> Work with AWS services to deploy, manage, and scale applications.

> Lead the management of AWS cloud services, optimizing infrastructure for scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.

> Implement and oversee cloud security measures.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of experience in development roles.
• Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
• Strong interpersonal, presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Experience in leading development teams
• Extensive background in web development, with hands-on experience in Python, Flask, JavaScript, and React JS.
• Have some knowledge or experience with Websockets and Redis servers.
• Have some experience in Computer Vision / AI
• Strong expertise in MySQL database management.
• Experience managing AWS cloud services and ensuring best practices in cloud architecture.
