About the Role:

We're expanding our team and seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the way in architecting our robotic arm, fast charging mechanism and the complete system design.

This includes designing components, and testing systems in both Kansas and Colorado.

In addition to managing the integration in serval locations throughout the US.

In this role, you'll collaborate with a skilled team of engineers and technicians, bringing new designs to life and influencing the direction of our technology.

We're seeking individuals with a solid foundation in first principles and engineering skills, who are eager to take on responsibilities and own hardware designs.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, providing technical direction and building consensus.
• Lead all phases of hardware development, from requirements capture to design validation and manufacturing readiness.
• Develop system block diagrams, schematics, select components, and design PCBAs.
• Conduct worst-case circuit analysis to support safety-critical hardware.
• Design and execute experiments for critical decisions in architecture, component selection, and manufacturing processes.
• Provide support for manufacturing, integration, and validation.
• Coordinate and lead discussions with leading battery companies and power conversion equipment tech.
• Collaborate with local engineering teams and regulatory bodies to ensure adherence to local electrical codes.
• Establish relationships with mechanical engineers and rail conductors to tailor solutions to their specific needs.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
• 3+ years of professional or project experience in hardware development, machine design, or validation.
• Proficiency in at least one commercial CAD tool (SolidWorks, Fusion 360°, etc).
• Experience with at least one commercial FEA or multi-physics simulation package (e.g., Simulink, SolidWorks, NASTRAN, ABAQUS, ANSYS).
• Ability to travel for R&D, testing and implementation.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in hardware development, machine design, or validation.
• Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience with static and dynamic analysis, including fatigue life, material selection, and process specification.
• Traction Systems: Experience with component design, specification, mechanical integration, or modeling of electric traction systems.
• Electronics: Experience with electronics and sensor packaging, considering high voltage isolation, heat dissipation, vibration isolation, water sealing, and manufacturability.
