The Immunology & Immunosafety group in the Local Delivery and Translational Sciences is seeking a Scientist I, Immunology based in Irvine, CA to support AbbVie toxin portfolio. This position requires strong technical skills in immunology, attention to detail, and the ability to work and communicate effectively as part of a team. Furthermore, the position requires the individual to work within areas requiring Biosafety level 2/3 laboratories. The candidate must conduct all work activities in compliance with AbbVie internal and applicable regulatory requirements. AbbVie internal requirements include compliance with ethics, environmental health and safety, financial, human resources, and general business policies, requirements, and objectives.
The ideal candidate is proactive, inquisitive and a self-starter who is eager to learn and thrives in a fast-paced environment. Hands-on laboratory experience in support of biologics drug development and within a matrixed team environment is required.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute robust bioanalytical (ligand binding and cell-based) and Immunological assays. These assays will focus on immunogenicity prediction and quantitation of target protein.
- Work closely with immunoassays, cell culture, ex-vivo assays.
- Work on experimental design, troubleshooting, assay optimization and data analysis as needed.
- Author SOPs and tech transfer/qualification/validation of documentation and support tech transfer to external CROs.
- Independently design and conduct critical experiments, interpret results and draw conclusions.
- Provide scientific oversight to contracted regulated clinical and nonclinical bioanalyses.
- Complete experiments and prepare reports appropriate for corporate and regulatory agencies within agreed timelines.
- Assist and/or train other team members when appropriate.
- Read and adapt scientific literature to accomplish assignments and demonstrate broad and versatile technical expertise within discipline.
- The successful candidate is required to have Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and typically 5 years of experience, Master’s Degree or equivalent education and typically 2 years of relevant working experience (i.e., Immunology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Bioanalytical or a related field)
- Experience with Biologics is required.
- Knowledge of relevant pharmaceutical industry practices.
- Knowledge in basic cell biology and immunology.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage different tasks and priorities simultaneously.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and technologies. A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- This position requires the individual to work with and in areas requiring select agents and Toxins access (i.e. Biosafety level 2 laboratories). Access to and use of select agents is regulated by federal policies. Therefore, the candidate must conduct all work activities in compliance with AbbVie internal and applicable regulatory requirements. AbbVie internal requirements include compliance with ethics, environmental health and safety, financial, human resources, and general business policies, requirements and objectives.
- 1+ years pharmaceutical industry experience is preferred.
- Experience with guidelines that are used in GLP/GCP compliant environment.
- Hands-on laboratory experiences with basic immunology assays (ligand binding assay such as ELISA, cell counting and viability test using Vicell, and primary cell isolation and PBMC culture) are preferred.
- Experience with relevant technology such as Quanterix/ Luminex/ ELISA/Octet, qPCR, and other cell-based assays supporting nonclinical and clinical studies.
The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
