Measurement Technician

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities:

• Provides training and mentoring of National Measurement Employees.
• Work within client-specific “Safe systems of Work”.
• Manage the metering work orders in SAP, Maintenance Management System, ensuring timely closure of work orders to ensure plan attainment.
• Perform Daily Measurement Checks, identifying and reporting anomalies through the appropriate systems in a timely manner.
• Performing routine planned maintenance and corrective scopes as determined by the agreed schedule on Fiscal, Allocation & environmental measurement, sampling, and analyzer systems.
• Ensure the compliance and continual operation of all fiscal, allocation and environmental measurement, sampling, and analysis systems with legal and/or contractual implications.
• Review maintenance and operations procedures
• Handling and preparation of any key meters, analytical equipment, and secondary instrumentation for recertification or verification at certified calibration facilities.
• Provide measurement, sampling, and analytical technical support to the operations team.
• Deal promptly and effectively with equipment faults, defects, and error messages within your control, and report those that cannot be resolved. Assist with basic fault finding on problematic equipment, with proposed solutions.
• Carry out pre-site and on-site preparation of routine tasks. (Define work scope and methodology; prepare equipment; consumables; materials and documentation. Obtain relevant permissions and deal with operational issues accordingly).
• Verify measurement data and flow calculations between field instrumentation and flow calculation devices.
• Carry out reinstatement of equipment and post-job operations, including performing calculations, highlighting potential mismeasurements, data validation, documentation upkeep, and reporting. Completion of work orders/instructions/logbooks in a timely manner with detailed work history.
• Ability to start up and shut down measurement systems for ongoing operations and routine maintenance.
• Review of specifications and material requisitions for analytical and metering systems.
• Identify and support opportunities to improve site analyser performance and maintenance.
• Assist in measurement audits and help to identify key areas for improvement and compliance, including elimination of audit points.
• Assist in the management of 3rd party personnel and vendors at the site, ensuring that work is carried out safely as per the agreed scope.
• Provide clear, accurate, and prompt information when requested from platform personnel or process engineers in relation to Measurement Systems compliance & and issues.
• Be able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation and understand the need for good working relationships. Treat colleagues in a manner that promotes and maintains goodwill.
• Compile end-of-trip reports with adequate technical information to ensure all completed and ongoing scopes are detailed for reference.
• Contribute to the maintenance of a safety culture and identify issues that may impact safe systems of work. Take part in client safety briefings and report findings, outcomes, and lessons learned.
• Ensure client commercially sensitive data and information is secured.
• Develop and manage equipment strategies as per the site safety and reliability practices.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Completed recognized Instrumentation or Electrical Apprenticeship
• Associate degree (AA) or relevant technical qualification
• Current COMPEX certification
• BOSIET / MEDICAL / MIST training
• Emergency Response Team Training
  
  

Job Specific Skills

• Several years previous experience working on an offshore production platform
• Knowledge of North Sea offshore standards
• Knowledge and experience of Liquid and Gas Measurement Principles
• Excellent fault-finding and practical problem-solving skills in the field of fiscal metering and analytical equipment
• Ability to write, review, and follow detailed procedures.
• Fiscal Metering and analyser system maintenance, fault finding, and installation across a multitude of systems such as:
• Sample systems.
• Hydrocarbon analysers (gas chromatographs, spectra, oxygen, moisture, Hydrocarbon dewpoint, BS&W, density).
• Water analysers (pH, conductivity).
• Continuous Emission Monitoring (TOC, O2, H2O).
• Ultrasonic flow meters.
• Sick Ultrasonic flow meters.
• OMNI flow computers.
  
  

PC Application Skills

• A High level of computer literacy with an aptitude to learn new systems.
