ASTERRA is seeking a highly motivated, curious and innovative individual to join our Remote Sensing Mineral Exploration (RSME) team in a recently launched operation within the company, as a Remote Sensing Mineral Analyst. This position plays a crucial role in contributing to the development of geospatial tools, models, and applications around geologic attributes, supporting geological examinations for mineral exploration, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of geospatial tools, models, and applications around geologic attributes.
- Conduct geological examinations of sites for mineral exploration purposes while using diverse datasets.
- Assist data analytic teams and management with insightful analysis and recommendations.
- Engage in fieldwork (1-3 times per quarter, approximately 100 days per year abroad).
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, both internal and external to the R&D department.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Geography/Geology/Geophysics/Geoinformatics or other related field.
- Demonstrate a profound understanding of mineralogy.
- Showcase advanced proficiency in geospatial analysis methods and concepts related to remote sensing.
- Proven experience with Python.
- Exhibit a solid mathematical background with a strong grasp of geometrical/spatial features.
- Showcase experience with GIS software (ArcGIS, ArcGIS Pro, QGIS etc.) technologies and advanced spatial analysis.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Geography/Geology/Geophysics/Geoinformatics or other related fields.
- Previous experience with mineral explorations.
- Possess knowledge and experience with microwaves/SAR technologies.
- Demonstrate additional knowledge in geomorphology/hydrology/soil/image processing.
Requirements
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time to the United States on a B2 or ESTA visa without any restrictions.
- Demonstrate excellent teamwork and communication skills, fostering effective collaboration within the RSA team.
- Independent thinking and problem-solving skills.
- High proficiency in English.
