At VSL Labs, we’ve combined the power of AI, Natural Language Processing, and Computer Vision algorithms to create an inclusive solution that allows ASL users to access information in their primary language. Our groundbreaking API is reshaping the landscape of language translation technology.

Your Role:

As our 3D Technical Developer, you will work alongside our NLP & Vision Engineers and Linguistics specialists to enhance the authenticity and expressiveness of our 3D ASL interpreter. The challenge extends from developing intricate hand gestures to designing emotive facial expressions using Blender’s blend shapes and animating fluid body movements with physical constraints for realistic effect.

Skills and Experience We Value:

• Strong Blender expertise, with particular emphasis on Python scripting for automation of complex tasks - MUST
• Experience with pose estimation and transforming 2D points into 3D models.
• Ability to create detailed metadata for animations, such as finger interactions, to enrich ASL communication.
• Proficiency in optimizing 3D assets for real-time applications.
• Excellent English communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts.

Additional Desired Skills:

• Familiarity with Blender’s plugin ecosystem.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, digital sculpting, and 3D prototyping.
• Experience in design research, product design, and texturing with tools like Substance Painter.
• Knowledge of user experience design and creative concept design.
• Familiarity with scripting languages beyond Python.

Pluses:

• Degree in a related field such as Computer Animation, Graphic Design, or Computer Science.
• Experience with AR/VR development environments.
• Understanding of low-level real-time graphics pipeline concepts.
• Experience with 2D to 3D conversion and 3D rendering.
