We are hiring teachers to join our Full Year Fellowship in Eilat (limited positions also available in Jerusalem!)
Job Description
If you’re an early to mid-career educator looking for an international teaching experience; interested in testing the waters before considering making Aliyah; or looking for social and professional support to integrate into the Israel education system, TALMA’s Full-Year Teaching Fellowship may be for you!
The Full Year Fellowship is a full-time professional program for English-speaking teachers. Participants, called TALMA Fellows, live and work in one of four TALMA communities across Israel. This year we have communities in Ben Shemen Youth Village, Eilat, and Jerusalem.
TALMA Fellows teach English in a K-12 school; improve their teaching practice through regular professional development; learn Hebrew weekly; and deepen their connections to their communities through immersive and engaging activities.
This position runs from through June 2024 with the option to renew the contract for one or more additional years.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach English four (4) days a week at a partner school
- Plan lessons, attend school staff meetings, and perform other tasks related to teaching
- Perform two (2) hours a week of community service at an approved location
- Engage in all professional development, enrichment, and community events (approximately ten (10) hours per month and up to five (5) weekends)
- Attend weekly Hebrew lessons (ulpan)
- Adhere to all TALMA procedures and protocols
Qualifications
- Education or teaching-related degree and/or certification
- 1 or more years of formal teaching experience
- Visa eligibility as defined by Israel's Law of Return
- Desire to become a part of a community of educators
- Willingness to engage in professional development and enrichment opportunities
- Excellent English oral and written communication skills (Hebrew is a bonus, but not required)
- Commitment to educational equity
- Solutions-oriented mindset and flexible thinking skills
