The Agricultural Marketing Specialist (entry-level specialist) is responsible for representing the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) in Israel. The incumbent facilitates linkages between U.S. exporters and host country importers, identifies marketing practices to increase trade opportunities, and resolves market access issues affecting U.S. agricultural products. Develops and maintains broad range of industry and government stakeholder contacts (working-to-mid levels) to gain cooperation on substantive agricultural matters. Analyzes and drafts reports on agricultural commodities, market developments, and market policy. Implements and evaluate various planned projects and activities, including market promotional and trade development programs.
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum three years of work experience required in one or more fields of agricultural economics, agricultural/product marketing, agricultural policy, business/project management, and marketing analysis/research that includes significant analysis and report writing.
JOB KNOWLEDGE:
- Thorough knowledge of agricultural practices, market conditions, and government policies in the host country.
- Knowledge of host government structure and responsibilities of various Ministries and offices, congressional and legislative processes as it relates to economic, trade, and agricultural policy matters is required.
- Good understanding of international agreements relating to agriculture policy and agricultural economic supply/demand theories and concepts.
Education Requirements:
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics, Food and Agricultural Marketing, Business, Agriculture, Agribusiness, or International Trade is required, or related major.
Evaluations:
LANGUAGE: English and Hebrew level 4 (fluency) Reading/Writing/Speaking is required. (This may be tested).
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) to create documents and spreadsheets, maintain and update databases, and develop presentations.
- Must be familiar with agricultural production, global agricultural trade concepts, general marketing strategies, and economic supply/demand concepts.
- Required to analyze statistical data and maintain data sets for accurate commodity and trade reporting.
- A valid Israeli driver's license is required.

Agency Benefits:
- For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the HR office. The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR office.
- Locally employed staff, including members of household (MOH) and third-country nationals (TCN), working at U.S. Embassy Jerusalem or Embassy Branch Office Tel Aviv will receive the following benefits:
Thirteen Month salary
Meal Allowance - The amount is NIS 4,700 per year.
Transportation Allowance - The Amount is NIS 6,552 per year.
Vacation Bonus – The amount is NIS 378.00 per day. The number of days paid depends on the length of service.
Retirement Plan – Embassy contributes 7.5% and the employee contributes 6% or 7% of basic salary on a biweekly basis.
Education Fund – The Embassy contributes 7.5 % and the employee contributes 2.5% of basic salary on a biweekly basis.
Gift Bonus – The employee will receive NIS 330.00 paid on Passover and Rosh Hashanah.
Annual Leave – Employee is entitled to 13 workdays of annual leave per year, for the first 3 years of service.
Sick Leave - Employee is entitled to 30 workdays of sick leave per year.
Holidays - In addition to observing local holidays as required by law, the Embassy is also closed for 11 U.S. designated holidays every year.
Kupat Kholim – 50% reimbursement for basic fees.
