Lead of Robotics HW R&D

Aeolus Robotics Inc. (https://aeolusbot.com) is a fast growing company with commercialized intelligent service robots dedicated to service industries. We are growing our business in Taiwan and will be extending to the US/Europe quickly. We are looking for a results-driven, technical and hands-on Lead of Robotics HW R&D to deliver innovative working systems and subsystems that support Aeolus Robotics products with superior competitive advantage by leading multidisciplinary teams with clear DFX, high productivity, and quality manufacturing.

Note, that this role is based in Taiwan and to be accepted as a candidate for this position, you need to be open for a relocation to Taiwan.

Job Responsibilities:

• Leading multidisciplinary teams, including HW engineering, and system engineering.
• Managing integrated hardware/system projects.
• Researching and developing innovative designs that deliver the superior competitive advantage.
• Recruiting and retaining experienced talents, subject matter experts, and middle-level managers within the organization.
• Building and learning on the organization with continuous productivity improvement.
• Setting disciplined DFX processes for the whole organization.

Job Qualifications:

Experience in multiple disciplines

• Hardware engineering, systems engineering, research and development.
• Familiarity with international standards for service robots.
• Experience managing non-co-located teams.
• Executive mentality to be accountable for total company success.

Hardware Engineering Experience

• Leadership experience in managing both ME and EE teams.
• Technical experience in designing, developing, and manufacturing.
• Dedication to best-practices for ME and EE design, prototyping, testing, and documentation Engineering.
• Mechanical engineering of components and subsystems, especially those with powered moving joints.
• Electrical engineering of power systems, cabling, control circuit boards, and sensor interfacing Manufacturing.
• Materials and methods of mechanical component manufacturing, and assembly.
• Materials and methods of electrical/electronic component manufacturing, and assembly.
• Coordinating outside work with consultants and vendors.
• Overseeing fabrication and factory assembly and testing.

Systems Engineering Experience

• Technical experience in system-level design and system-of-systems; ideally autonomous robotic systems.
• Dedication to best-practices for systems design, prototyping, testing, and documentation, that relies on input from all stakeholders, including but not limited to: marketing, product, engineering, quality, manufacturing, deployment, and support.
• Inclusion of domain experts (whether employees or consultants) for controls, sensors, EMI/EMC, communications, safety; mechanical, electrical, and software systems; robotics (including mobility, manipulation, UI, UX, &c.); and operation in various demanding environments.
• Leadership experience in managing interdisciplinary non-colocated teams.
• Smoothly collaborating with Software Lead and team.
• Familiarity with international standards for machine; electrical; and service robot safety.

Research and Development Experience

• Experience in leading non-colocated teams in developing top-down requirements for systems and subsystems, that address the needs of all stakeholders.
• Researching technology alternatives applicable to these requirements.
• Realistic scheduling to develop and prove concepts and test prototypes of systems and subsystems.
• Ensure prototypes meet the requirements.

Note: A candidate who only has excellent management abilities for hardware teams across disciplines is still very attractive when teamed with experienced people who do have systems design and autonomous robotic systems experience.
