Micro-Mechanical Team Leader

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Micro-Mechanical Design Team Leader to oversee and manage all aspects of mechanical design, development, and implementation related to our fiber connectivity solutions for silicon photonics chips. This leadership role requires a deep understanding of micro-mechanics, precision engineering, and optical packaging, coupled with the ability to lead a cross-functional team of engineers and designers.

Responsibilities

· Lead, mentor, and manage a team of mechanical engineers and designers focused on developing cutting-edge micro-mechanical solutions for fiber connectivity to silicon photonics chips.

· Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including optical engineers, electrical engineers, and materials scientists to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components with the overall system.

· Drive the entire mechanical product development lifecycle from concept to design, prototyping, testing and final production.

· Develop and implement mechanical design methodologies that emphasize precision, reliability, and manufacturability while meeting performance and cost targets.

· Conduct thorough analysis and simulation of micro-mechanical designs using appropriate software tools to ensure structural integrity and thermal performance.

· Evaluate and select appropriate materials, manufacturing processes and vendors to produce micro-mechanical components.

· Establish and maintain design documentation, specifications, and standards to ensure consistency and traceability throughout the development process.

· Collaborate with the research and development team to identify emerging technologies and trends in micro-mechanics and optical packaging.

· Provide technical leadership and guidance during cross-functional design reviews, brainstorming sessions, and problem-solving initiatives.

· Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the mechanical engineering team.

Qualifications

· B.Sc/M.Sc/Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Precision Engineering, or a related field with a focus on micro-mechanics.

· Proven track record of 5+ years in micro-mechanical design, particularly in the field of photonics, Experience in managing multidisciplinary teams and leading complex mechanical design projects to successful completion.

· Proficiency in CAD software for 3D modeling and simulation (e.g., SolidWorks, COMSOL, ANSYS, etc.).

· Deep understanding of materials science, manufacturing processes and their impact on micro-scale mechanical systems.

· Familiarity with optical packaging techniques and challenges in integrating optical components into mechanical systems.

· Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and propose effective solutions.

· Effective communication skills to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
