Senior Embedded Systems Engineer

Responsibilities:

As a Senior Embedded Systems Engineer at Structure, you will play a pivotal role in developing the firmware used by our sensors. You will be responsible for architecting, developing and testing the embedded systems used by Structure’s new sensors. You will also be responsible for supporting and improving the firmware of sensors currently in the hands of customers, including releasing OTA firmware updates that enable new features and ensure their continuous operation. This position reports directly to the CTO. Key responsibilities include:

• Architect the Embedded Systems used by Structure Hardware products, including 3D sensors;
• Design and develop the Embedded Systems and firmware used by Structure’s hardware products;
• Test firmware and verify release-candidates in preparation for OTA updates;
• Assist in the development of new hardware designs, including reviewing PCB schematics;
• Assist in the bringup of new hardware designs;
• Mentor other engineers less experienced in Embedded Systems.

We are looking for someone with:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field;
• At least 6 years of professional experience in Embedded Systems development;
• Proven experience (2+ years) developing firmware for devices available in volume (1k+/year);
• Proven experience (1+ years) developing devices with integrated cameras;
• Strong knowledge of Embedded C, RTOS and Embedded Linux;
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions and mentor other engineers.

Bonus points if you have experience in the following areas:

• M.S. or PhD in Engineering or Computer Science;
• Experience with stereo vision sensing and image processing;
• Experience with Apple MFi;
• Experience with USB 3.0 and wireless communications (WiFi, BT, BLE, etc).

Location:

This position can be remote or hybrid. Structure’s HQ are located in Boulder, Colorado, USA. If local, expect a hybrid work environment, with the opportunity to work remotely, and also at company facilities.
