Senior Product Designer - M365 Defender – SOC

Microsoft 365 Defender is an innovative, industry leading integrated solution for the Microsoft 365 threat protection services that breaks down traditional security solutions silos to deliver detection and response across all data sources.

Our design team is a highly collaborative group of user researchers, content, and product designers. We value creativity, open idea sharing, and having fun while we work. We are looking for a Senior Product Designer that can conceptualize the big picture, as well as be able to drive detailed design development. You should have a proven record of innovative thinking, a history of using design to drive new ideas, and the ability to help others to make the right design decisions. You will help us define the visual look and feel of the product, refine design patterns and components, and work with designers across Microsoft to align and inform our design language and expression.

In this role, you will work with other designers, product managers [US and Israel sites], and engineers to create forward thinking designs that are user scenario driven and meet business goals. You will identify user centered design patterns, establish scenarios, place designs into user context and create interactions that align to those requirements. You will need to show attention to detail and passion in the work you produce.

Responsibilities

• You will create wireframes, journey maps, prototypes and detailed mockups to iterate on product scenarios and effectively communicate design concepts, interactions, and final designs to stakeholders and partners.
• You will work with the Visual Design and Expression team and brand guidelines to establish look and feel for the product.
• You will create and manage design toolkits, product assets, interaction models, data visualization, design systems, and more for the project. You’ll develop these with cooperation from other designers on the team, and mentoring others on their application
• You will communicate with cross-disciplinary teams across all stages of design and development through compelling storytelling and feedback.
• You will collaborate with design, researach, program managers, and developers to define product features. You’ll create engaging experiences by deeply understanding customer needs, working within engineering constraints, and challenging design and engineering limitations when appropriate.
• You’ll provide guidance to other designers and engineers when it comes to implementation, ensuring your design vision is realized in code.
• You can independently manage multple projects end-to-end. You own your own timelines and deliverables, guide production, and communicate evolving project goals.
• You receive and prioritize incoming projects, finding meaningful balance between optimizing for speed, quality, and doing risky but interesting work.
• You understand strategic business goals, focus work around objectives and key results, and guide team members in that strategy, alignment, analysis, and execution of tasks.
• You stay up to date with emerging technologies, design trends, and industry best practices, proactively suggesting and implementing improvements to our design processes and tools.

Qualifications

Required

• Link to an online portfolio.
• Bachelors or Master's Degree in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related field
• 7+ years of experience working in B2B product as a product design [UX+UI].
• Deep knowledge of design, with strengths in visual design principles, interaction design, prototyping, and/or front-end development
• Strong communication and organizational skills 
• Self-starter with expertise in user experience and visual design 
• Understands how to utilize design specialties and how/when to integrate with partnering teams (PM, engineering, marketing, brand, and content teams)
• Customer-centric mindset with experience turning abstract design concepts into reality.
• Experience creating design systems, style guides, component libraries, and technical frameworks.
• Firm grasp of Figma for design and prototyping
• Learn-it-all (not know-it-all) attitude and approach
• Willingness to question established thinking in pursuit of better outcomes.
• Ability to evangelize design thinking with product team
  
  

Portfolio

A strong portfolio is critical for this role. Showcase your experience in interaction design, particularly in complex systems where simplicity and ease of use were a major concern.  

Preferred

• Experience with Security domain.
• Familiar with agile or lean methodologies.
• Awareness of inclusive design and how it supports Microsoft’s mission.
